Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Shui LLC ("Shui," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information through the Shui mobile app. It applies to anyone who uses the app.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in, we receive a unique account identifier and the display name, handle, and (if you add them) profile photo and bio you set. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, only if you choose to share them, your name and email address.
Content you create. The topics you type in to generate a lesson, comments you post, videos you like or save, and the interests you select.
Learning activity. Which lessons you've watched, quiz answers and scores, learning streaks, and your conversations with the in-app AI tutor.
Purchase and subscription information. Your subscription tier, credit balance, and a history of top-ups, subscription charges, and refunds. All payment processing — your card details, billing — is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store's In-App Purchase system. Shui never receives or stores your payment card information.
Developer API usage. If you create a developer API key, we store an irreversibly hashed version of it (never the key itself), along with when it was created, when it was last used, and how many requests it's handled.
Device and usage analytics. General usage analytics (which screens are used, how often) and standard technical information such as device type and app version.

Why we collect it

To provide the app's core functionality — generating lessons from the topics you request, tracking your progress, running the AI tutor, and showing you a relevant feed.
To process purchases and maintain your account's credit balance and subscription tier.
To operate and secure the app — fixing bugs, understanding usage patterns, and preventing abuse (for example, of the developer API).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or ad networks. We do share data with the service providers that make the app work:

Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform — authentication, our database, hosting, and usage analytics.
Anthropic — the text of your AI tutor conversations is sent to Anthropic's Claude models to generate the tutor's responses.
GolpoAI — the topics you submit to generate a lesson are sent to GolpoAI to produce the lesson's video.
Apple — all purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase; Apple, not Shui, handles your payment information.
Cloudflare — video files are stored and served through Cloudflare's infrastructure.

Data retention

We keep your account and usage data for as long as your account is active, so the app can function — showing your progress and lesson history, for example. Certain records, such as transaction records, may be retained longer where required by law (for example, for tax or fraud-prevention purposes).

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of a verified request, except where we're required to retain certain records by law.

Children's privacy

Shui is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
